The National Institute of Ocean Technology (of India) announced via twitter (see below) that a contract has been signed for supply and commissioning of an Open OTEC powered desalination plant with a capacity of 100m3/day. India has led the deployment of Low Temperature Thermal Desalination (LTTD) for small islands with limited water resources, this new project brings clean and renewable power from OTEC onboard to cleanly supply water for Kavaratti island.
