On March 1, 2023, The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan announced the 15th Prime Minister’s Commendation for Special Achievement in Promoting Japan as a Maritime Nation.
The Institute of Ocean Energy, Saga University was selected as a winner for “Leading the world with research results and human resource developments that open up the future of ocean energy.”
Specifically, IOES’s support of the Okinawa OTEC Demonstration Facility on Kumejima, Support for international organizations such as OTEA and work on the JST/JICA SATREPS Malaysia Hybrid OTEC Project were listed as major accomplishments.
