New SWAC Project Underway in French Polynesia

Energies De La MER reports that installation is in progress for the “world’s longest commercial SWAC” facility in French Polynesia. The intake is expected to be 3.8km of 710mm HDPE to a depth of 880m. The facility is expected to provide cooling services for the Taaone Hospital. The project was awarded by the Ministry of Modernization to Geoocean, Boyer, Cegelec, and Interoute (3 local companies). The total project cost in 4 sectors is expected to be 2.7 billion CFP Franc and reduce hospital electricity costs by 350 million CPF Fanc per year.
