MOL Embarks on Practical Application of OTEC

The Japan Economic Newspaper (Nihon Keizai Shinbun) reports that MOL (Mitsui O.S.K. Lines) is embarking on the practical application of OTEC in Japan. They are reported to aim for start of a power plant with an output of 1,000kW around the year 2025, with a cost of generation lower than offshore wind through use of intake facilities to be established for aquaculture.
